Highly debated evangelist, James Lalramliana has been charged with sexual assault of minor under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2021. According to police report, James Lalramliana is currently booked in prison after being taken to court today.

James Lalramliana was holed up at Sailutar, a village in Darlawn block of Aizawl district in Mizoram, for more than a year after what was hailed as a successful gospel camping. The unusual acts involved in his ministry and the controversial sermons stirred concerns among many church leaders in the state. Prominent pastors and religious leaders have gone to Sailutar to talk sense into the evangelist but of no avail. He continued his 'ministry' at rhe village where the residents provided him with accomodation and other essential necessities.

According to reports from the residents of Sailutar, on October 3, 2021 young girls of the village gathered for a prayer meeting durint which a 14 year old girl told her friends that the evangelist used to sleep with her at night and even forced her to drink liquor with him. The matter was taken seriously by the village authorities who took further investigation and James Lalramliana was immediately banished from the village on the night of 5 October 2021.

After an FIR was filed against James Lalramliana at Darlawn Police Station, he was handed over to the Aizawl Police who took further actions.
