After the controversial RT-PCR issue was taken to the High Court on 27- 28 August, 2021, the Gauhati High Court ordered the Govt.of Mizoram to take immediate measures required for setting up RT- PCR lab in Lunglei. The old Tourist Lodge building in Zotlang, Lunglei was then renovated for the lab installation. The Lunglej RT-PCR laboratory was finally inaugurated today by Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana. A total amount of Rs. 66.65 lakh was spent for the building renovation.
The Thermo Fisher 7500 RT-PCR machine at the lab went through a successful trial run on 20 December, 2021 under the supervision of Service Engineer Dr Swagnik Roy, HoD, Microbiology Department, Zoram Medical College.
