As part of its ongoing fight against smuggling activities in Mizoram, Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered illegal Myanmar currency (Kyat) one crore (10000000/-) equivalent to Rs 4,20,000/- in General Area Khaikhy, Saiha district, Mizoram yesterday. The operation was carried out by a team of 3 Assam Rifles. One individual is currently detained for further questioning.
Among many other contraband items, the ongoing smuggling of foreign currency has become a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the Indo-Myanmar Border.
