Earlier today, a massive fire broke out and completely burned down an Ikra house in Chanmari, Aizawl. The Assam type house, owned by Pu V.Liannawla, was built in 1966 and comprises of four floors, housing six families.

Two cement concrete buildings next to the Ikra house, one owned by the same gentleman that the house stands adjacent to and the other, Pu Lalbiakthanga's building, also sustained extensive damage due to multiple LPG cylinder explosions.

Due to the slightly inconvenient location of the house, it took six fire trucks and over ten water carriers working together with the community several hours to successfully put out the fire.
