Mizo cultural values and lores to be included in school curriculum from new academic session

In yesterday's MNF party meeting at Hnam Run, Mizoram Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte stated that Mizo cultural values and lores will be included in the new school curriculum for Classes 6,7 and 8. 

The minister also added that the textbook for this new syllabus is already set in place by SCERT and the subject will be titled as "Zonun" where students will learn about important Mizo cultural values, tales of bravery of warriors and kings from Mizo history and folktales, names of animals, plants, rivers and mountains in Mizoram. According to Lalchhandama, the introduction of "Zonun" as part of the middle school syllabus is to promote Mizo culture and to instill a sense of nationalism in the younger generation. The new syllabus is set to be implemented immediately in the new academic session.
