As it does every year, the Govt of Mizoram has prohibited the sales, purchase and use of fireworks, sky lanterns and toy guns (the kind that comes with tiny compact pellets).
This initiative is undertaken annually in effort to minimise environmental and noise pollution.
Notices have already been sent out from all District Commissioners' Offices.
Violation of this ban is punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
