Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), often regarded as Mizoram’s apex students’ body, held its 65th General Assembly today at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl.

In this Assembly, MZP- GHQ general election for the term 2021-2023 was held and Lalnunmawia Pautu was elected as President with 516 votes. Other elected office bearers include Andrew Lalramnghaka as Vice- President, Jacob Lalmuanpuia as General Secretary, Chinkhanmanga Thomte as AGS, Sanghmingthanga as the treasurer and Lalhuapliana as the Fin. secretary.

Delegates of the Thadou Students’ Association, GHQ (TSA-GHQ), Manipur, led by their President, Houkholen Haokip, were also invited to the General Assembly and election as they are one of the affiliated members under MZP.

The General Assembly passed several agendas such as organizing a state-wide career awareness and nationalism awareness campaign.

Being the largest students' organization in the state, the MZP has always been a strong positive force that stands for the progress ane development of Mizo students in and outside the state. However, in recent years, many officials have been publicly criticized for using MZP as a political platform and for personal gains. The organization has taken active part in the recent border issues, protested against unfair postings of government officials, and in problems related to conflicts within and outside the state and other social and political matters.
