After hitting the highest Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hrs on July 19, 2021 with 807 cases, Mizoram is conducting a mass random testing for Covid-19 in full swing in selected localities within Aizawl. The mass random testing for Covid-19 was conducted in five localities- Salem Veng, ITI Veng, Ramthar Veng, Bawngkawn and Venghlui. According to the data recorded by IDSP, H&FW, Govt.of Mizoram,  total of 4431 samples were tested out of which 113 samples tested positive for Covid-19.

Yesterday, the mass testing was successfully conducted in Bethlehem Vengthlang, Rangvamual, Ramthar Veng, Armed Veng South and Chhinga Veng where a total of 5403 samples were tested out of which 226 samples tested positive for Covid-19.  The localities selected for the mass testing are the areas with high positivity rate in the state.

The Medical Operational Team (MOT) for Covid-19 has stated that arrangements have been made for mass testing to be conducted in other localities within Aizawl and that the medical team will carry on with the random sample testing even after the state-wide total lockdown.  

More than 20 laboratory technicians and data entry operators have volunteered to assist the medical teams with the mass testing which is currently conducted in selected localities within Aizawl. Dr. Pachuau Lalmalsawma, spokesperson for on Covid-19 stated that more volunteers will be needed as more mass testing will be conducted in other localities in the state capital. 

Today 625 positive cases were recorded out of which 90 were samples tested with the RT-PCR, 474 with Rapid Antigen Test and 61 in the TrueNAT laboratory.
