Popularly known as the man who fathered the largest living family, Zionnghaka(76 yrs) passed away this afternoon 3:00 PM at Trinity Hospital, Melthum due to diabetes. 

Ziona was the leader of a religious community called ‘Chana Pawl, named after Ziona's father. The group occupies a large locality in Baktawng village, located in Serchhip district and follows their own religious beliefs and practices. Mr. Ziona, who headed the ‘Chana’s sect’, left behind 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren.

Ziona married his first wife in 1959 at the age of 15 and his last marriage was in 2004 when he was 60 years old. The family comprises of around180 members and they reside in a four-storey house called ‘Chhuan Thar Run’ or the Home of the New Generation. The community gained international recognition and fame when different national and international media filmed documentaries on the history and life of the group 6 years ago 

Ziona’s eldest son, Nunparliana, a 58 yr old man is regarded by many as the heir-apparent and the fate of the community now rests largely in his hands.
