The body of Jones C. Malsawmkimi (20 yrs) was found in a forest in Sokhuvi in Dimapur district, Nagaland on 3 September, 2021. The body reached Malsawmkimi's family at Lunglei yesterday.
Malsawmkimi was an Assam Rifle medical attendant and had been in service for four years. She was posted at the training centre in ARTC,Shokhuvi in Dimapur where she had been on duty for four months. On the night of 2 September, 2021, she reportedly went missing and an FIR was filed at Dimapur Police Station after she failed to come home from her duty. After a thorough search at the training centre and the nearby areas, her body was found on 3 September, 2021 after which a postmortem was done at the hospital. Malsawmkimi's body was brought to Mizoram at her hometown Lunglei on 5 September, 2021.
There has been a loud demand for justice for the deceased and the public is calling for a proper investigation regarding the death of Malsawmkimi. Dr. K. Pachhunga, the MLA of Lunglei South has notified the Governor of India and the Central Government to carry out immediate investigation into the brutal death of the Mizo girl.
