On December 1, 2022 India formally assumed the Presidency of G-20 grouping for the period of one year. The Group of 20 is a premier forum of the world’s advanced and developing economies, as well as the European Union, which meets every year to discuss global issues. India’s start of the presidency is marked by several people-centric activities.

A day after India was handed over the presidency of the G20, Union minister G Kishan Reddy announced that some of the meetings of the influential groups were planned to be held across the Northeast region. Mizoram's capital Aizawl has been in full prep mode since the start of the year for the G20 - B20 meeting it will host from tomorrow at the Mizoram University.

The B20 is the official G20 dialogue forum with the business community and is one of the G20 Engagement Groups. The Engagement Groups are independent collectives that are led by organizations from the host country. They work with other organizations from G20 countries to develop policy recommendations that are formally submitted to G20 leaders for consideration.

The G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of Heads of State/Government is scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 this year in New Delhi.
