The Committee on Utilization of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 has sanctioned Rs. 1,46,41,000 (One crore forty six lakhs and forty one thousand) to be distributed among families within the Aizawl Municipal Corporation Area to provide immediate relief measure amidst the state wide total lockdown. After a thorough survey, 9750 families have been selected to receive the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The fund will also be distributed to 8 mendicants/ street singers in the city area who will be given Rs. 2,000/- each. The sanction order was released on 28 July, 2021.

 

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, donations have been pouring in from different parts of the state to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The donors range from NGO’s and church organizations to small kids who donated savings from their piggybanks. The Federation of Mizoram Government Employees & Workers (FMGE & W) also donated Rs. 5 crores to the CM Relief Fund for Covid 19 after members of the Federation contributed their one- day salary for the donation.

The total donation in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 has come to a total of Rs. 29.2 crores out of which Rs. 26.7 crores have been spent on different purposes related to Covid- 19. On 10 June, 2020 the Committee on Utilization of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for COVID-10 had sanctioned Rs. 23.39 lakhs to De- addiction centres and child care institutions in different districts in Mizoram.  Earlier this month, the Committee has also sanctioned Rs. 6 lakhs to 31 Local Level Task Force within the AMC where each LLTF received Rs. 20,000/- from the sanctioned amount.
